Your questions answered.

How can I protect myself against possible damage to my property and its contents?

Check with your guest if they have personal liability insurance. The guest’s liability insurance should cover the cost of any damages, but usually there is a part that the guest needs to pay on his own.

If the guest does not have insurance, and for your own peace of mind, we recommend that you ask your guests for a refundable security deposit. The deposit should be around 150€ to cover the cost of the most common damages. Wimdu also offers a subsidiary liability insurance to protect hosts from any accidental damage to their property that may not be covered by the guest's insurance.
